Eminem's Auction Sneakers, Up Close: A Photo-by-Photo Look at the Headline Pairs — and Your August 25 Game Plan

We already broke down what's in the Marshall Mathers Foundation Auction, what it's worth and how the hybrid sale works. This is the visual companion: the marquee pairs in high resolution, from every angle — the signatures, the boxes, the wear — plus a simple checklist to get you ready before the August 25 hammer.

Eminem's Marshall Mathers Foundation Auction at Julien's — 117 pairs from his personal closet, every one hand-signed, all proceeds to disadvantaged and at-risk youth in Metro Detroit — has been open for pre-bids since late July. The live sale is August 25 (10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET), so as of today you've got about three weeks to do your homework.

If you want the full rundown — presale estimates, why these hit different, and how the pre-bid-then-live-sale mechanic actually works — read our deep dive first: Eminem Is Cleaning Out His Closet — Literally →. This piece does the other job: it puts the headline pairs right in front of you so you can judge condition, signatures and boxes for yourself.

And yes, the theme writes itself — two decades after the song, Em really is cleaning out his closet. Cue it up while you scroll:

How to use this gallery

Below are the standout pairs from the sale, grouped by shoe. Tap or click any photo to open the full-screen viewer, then use the arrows (or your keyboard's left/right keys) to scroll through every angle — side profiles, heels, soles, signatures and original boxes. It's the closest thing to handling them in person before you register a bid.

1. Air Jordan 3 “Slim Shady” PE — the Super Bowl LVI pair

The one everybody's watching. This is the unreleased player-exclusive Air Jordan 3 built for Eminem's Super Bowl LVI halftime performance in 2022 — white leather, cement-grey elephant print, Fire Red accents and an icy translucent outsole. Flip to the heel shots and you'll see the detail that makes it unmistakably his: a red name-tag graphic reading “HI! MY NAME IS SLIM SHADY.”

What to look for in the photos: the “Hi! My Name Is Slim Shady” heel tag, the crisp elephant print on the toe and heel, the clean icy sole (barely worn), and Em's signature. This is the crown-jewel lot — expect the biggest jump on sale day.

2. Air Jordan 4 “Encore” — the royal-blue Eminem PE

One of the most coveted Eminem Jordans in existence, tied to the Encore era. Royal-blue suede over the classic AJ4 cage, red Jumpman hits, and a cursive script embroidered on the collar. The photos show it still paired with its orange Jumpman hangtag and Em's signature on the heel.

Named for the 2004 album — so here's the title track, Em with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent:

What to look for in the photos: the blue suede condition (suede shows wear fast), the “Encore”-era script on the collar, the intact hangtag, and the signature placement on the back heel.

3. Air Jordan 4 × Carhartt “Eminem”

The 2015 three-way friends-and-family collab between Eminem, Carhartt and Jordan Brand — black rugged canvas, chrome eyelets, a cream/gum midsole and a gold-embroidered Carhartt “C” on the lateral side. Zoom the heel and you'll catch the gold “Shady” signature and the round Carhartt logo.

What to look for in the photos: the gold Carhartt embroidery and gold “Shady” script on the heel, the canvas texture (durable but scuffs show), and the orange Jumpman tag. A famously hard pair to find with clean provenance.

4. Nike Air Max 90 “Halloween / Ice”

The loudest pair in the set: black upper with fiery orange trim over a translucent orange “Ice” outsole (the Halloween-pack look that glows). A signed pair of these reads as pure Detroit-October energy.

What to look for in the photos: the translucent orange sole (yellowing is common on these — check the photos), the orange “NIKE AIR” heel branding, and where Em signed it.

5. Nike Air Max “Camo”

A green-and-brown camo Air Max — the kind of low-key grail sneakerheads clock instantly. Multiple angles here, plus the matching camo-print box.

What to look for in the photos: overall camo fabric condition, the sole wear in the outsole shot, and that the box in the photos matches — box-plus-signature is exactly the combo Julien's is highlighting across this sale.

6. Nike Air Max 90 (white)

A clean triple-white Air Max 90 — the accessible end of the collection for someone who wants a signed pair from Em's closet without a PE price tag. Comes photographed with its red Nike box.

What to look for in the photos: white ages hard, so study the midsole and toe in the close-ups; the value here is “signed + boxed,” not rarity.

7. PUMA Palace Guard “Detroit Pistons”

A white/red/blue PUMA Palace Guard in Pistons colors — a Detroit nod that fits the whole charity-for-Detroit-youth story. Shown from every angle with its green PUMA box.

What to look for in the photos: the PUMA heel branding, overall condition (these are retro-clean here), and the matching box. A more affordable lane into a signed Em pair.

8. adidas Superstar

The lone Three-Stripes entry: a Superstar shell-toe in white with blue and red, trefoil on the heel, photographed with its blue adidas box. Proof the collection isn't just Swooshes and Jumpmen.

What to look for in the photos: the shell toe for creasing, the trefoil heel branding, and the signature location. Another accessible signed pair.

Before you bid: a three-week game plan

The photos are the fun part. This is the part that keeps you from overpaying — or missing a lot you actually wanted. With roughly three weeks to go, here's the checklist:

  • Register now, not on sale day. Julien's requires an approved account to bid, and approval isn't always instant. Set it up this week so you're not locked out when a lot is closing.
  • Check the size before you fall in love. Most of these are men's size 10–11.5 — Em's own pairs, not a run of sizes. If they don't fit, treat them as display pieces, not wearers, and bid accordingly.
  • Set a real proxy maximum. Pre-bidding uses proxy bids: you set your ceiling and the system bids for you up to it. Decide your true walk-away number before the emotion of the live sale — and remember the biggest jumps usually happen in the final minutes on August 25.
  • Budget for more than the hammer price. Auction houses add a buyer's premium (plus any tax and shipping) on top of your winning bid. Confirm the exact rate on Julien's terms and bake it into your ceiling.
  • Prioritize “signed + boxed.” Julien's is emphasizing that these come with original boxes — the combination of Eminem's signature and the box is what protects resale value. In the galleries above, confirm a lot's box is shown.
  • Pick your lane. Chasing the Slim Shady 3 or the Encore 4 is a five-figure conversation. Want a signed Em pair without the PE price? The Air Max 90, the PUMA Palace Guard and the adidas Superstar are the accessible end.
  • Put the time in your calendar. The live sale runs August 25, 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. Lots are called one by one; if you're bidding live, know roughly when your lot comes up so you're at the screen.

Where it all goes

Worth repeating, because it's the whole point: proceeds benefit the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which provides financial assistance, healthcare support and services to disadvantaged and at-risk youth in Detroit and the surrounding area. Every pair sold is money going back into the city that made him.
